It's a....

It's a GIRL!!!! On November 19th we found out we were having a little baby girl! We were so excited, I wasn't really shocked it was a girl. From the start of my pregnancy I kind of thought we were going to have a girl because Brayden and I had ZERO girl names and about ten boy names we agreed on.

To be honest I was expecting this appointment to be a lot more fun than it actually was. We were thrown a curveball that I was not really prepared for. First off, we got to the appointment and first went in for the ultrasound. My little brother waited in the waiting room. He was with us because my parents and brothers family were coming to spend Thanksgiving with us this year. So the ultrasound tech came in and checked on our sweet little baby. Within a few minutes she told us we were having a girl!! And then the rest of the time she was going through measuring everything, but didn't really say much. After the ultrasound we went back out into the waiting room to be called back to meet with my OB for my regular monthly checkup. We waited for about 30 minutes before Brayden said he needed to go back to school, which was fine with me because I told him all I am going to do is get my blood pressure, weight, etc and the doctor will send me on my way, so he left. About 10 minutes later I get called back and do all the normal baby check ups. Then my doctor sits down and tells me that they found cysts on our baby's brain. She told me that I will need to go see a specialist and that she sent in a referral and they will call me to schedule an appointment. Then she didn't skip a beat and moved on just going over all of the normal measurements during these check ups.

After she was done, she asked if I had any questions. I didn't have much time to process it all, but I asked her what the cysts mean. She told me that when they find these they have to send their patients to the specialists just to get a second opinion on the size and growth of the baby. She also said that there is a link to Trisonomy 18. Once she went through that I felt like I was just in a little bit of a fog not being able to totally comprehend everything she went over. Since Brayden wasn't with me to be my medical information interpreter and my voice of reason, I walked out of this appointment feeling a little helpless. But I wasn't ready to talk about it just yet and I didn't even have time to tell Brayden yet, so I had to put on a smile for my little brother who was in the waiting room. We got in the car and went off to lunch at Firehouse Subs. I texted Brayden and told him about the cysts and of course he just started asking tons of questions I had no answers to because I was still just processing what I thought was just going to be a fun appointment.

Once my brother and I walked into Firehouse for lunch he said what do you want and I looked at him and just started bawling and ran into the bathroom. Dramatic i know... I could just picture his face soooo confused and having no clue what to do or what was happening. When I came back out I sat down and told him. He was so sweet and said all the right things about how everything will be okay and to not look up anything on google. The rest of the day we just hung out and tried to keep our minds off of everything and just waited for the specialist to call to set up our appointment. This is the

Unfortunately, this all happened the week of Thanksgiving so we did not get a call and weren't expecting one until at least the following Monday. But luckily, my parents, Logan, and all of Ryan's clan were coming to spend time with us for Thanksgiving! It was sooo much fun hanging out with everyone and showing them around Charleston. We went on a pirate tour, Ruth's Chris for dinner, saw the Christmas lights, shopped for clothes for our sweet little baby girl on the way, and went on a dolphin tour. Of course we decided to do the dolphin tour on one of the coldest days of the year. Right before we got on the boat Ryan said, "I can already tell this is going to be the top 10 coldest experiences of my life." Oh and he was so right. It would have been comical to see our boat. We were all huddled together wrapped in blankets with only our eyes showing. I don't even think Cooper ever came out from under his blanket. It could not have worked out more perfectly to have family come into town after our last appointment. They made us(mainly me because Brayden kept saying everything would be okay) feel so much better! We love being surrounded by family and having visitors!

When we went to the specialist we had an hour long ultrasound. Once we were seated in our room the ultrasound technician explained everything we were going to do. She also went on to explain that cysts on a babies brain is actually very common, which I did know that now because after our initial appointment I researched everything about cysts on babies brains. She reassured me that since there were were not any other markers in our last ultrasound that everything was probably fine. Once she talked to us I felt 100% better. So we started the ultrasound and it was so amazing to see our baby. It was such a long and very detailed ultrasound, I LOVED it. Like the ultrasound tech told us beforehand, our little girl was healthy and everything was okay!
