To start, I thought I was getting engaged the day before, so you can imagine my disappointment when it didn't happen. I promised myself I would not try and guess when it was going to happen, but I am way to nosey for that to ever happen... My sister tried to convince me that it probably was going to happen that next weekend when we were in California for the Taylor Swift concert, but I had a hunch it wouldn't. Brayden tried to keep saying that he was waiting to get to California so he could get it from our jeweler in LA, but I knew he could easily ship it to him. Through all of the excuses I was given I tried to believe them, but I just wanted to be engaged to Brayden so bad that I wished and hoped they were all lying.
Monday, August 17th -
I was staying at my sisters house in Orem because I just moved out of my King Henry apartment and I had a few days before I could move into my new place. This day was pretty much like any other day, I woke up, hung out, went to the gym, etc. But later on in the day I got sick and didn't feel very well. I spent the remainder of the day on the bathroom floor next to the toilet (I know, gross). And in my head I thought I was getting proposed to that night, so I was freaking myself out and I needed to get better. All day Brayden was acting a little weird, he said he had a lot of stuff to do and was going to play basketball later that night, which at the time I thought was a cover up for not wanting me to think we were going to do anything. The night came and he really didn't have anything planned, and he told me he probably wouldn't have time to come up to Orem and hang out. In my head I was a little bit irked, I was sick all day and throwing up and he wasn't going to drive from Provo to Orem?? But I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and tried to think maybe he was just really busy that day. Basically the time came to go to bed and I was shocked that I was going to bed without a ring on my finger, I totally thought it was going to happen!
....but little did I know "playing basketball" that night, was code for running errands and meeting up with my sneaky friends to put the finishing touches on the proposal.
Tuesday, August 18th -
Today I decided I would not get my hopes up at all. I was so disappointed the night before that I made sure I would not have any expectations. So the day went pretty much the same as the day before except this time Brayden and I had planned to go to the gym together which we did, then we hung out at his house for a little bit. Later that night we had made plans to go to In-N-Out with some of my friends, which I didn't really think was odd because all of my roommates and I love food and love In-N-Out. So after hanging out with Brayden, I was supposed to go home and shower and get ready. This is where things got a little fishy...
So I went back to my sisters house and just laid around for a bit and when she walked into her room she got so mad that I wasn't showered and that I was laying on her bed. I told her I wasn't planning on getting really ready, I mean we were just going to In-N-Out. I didn't need to look all fancy. I even texted Brayden and told him I wasn't going to get ready, which he never cares really what I wear. But he replied "Why not? I am going to be wearing normal clothes. I'm wearing my gray shoes with a button up shirt." This is where things got really fishy, he wouldn't let me wear my workout clothes, which he always does! And on top of that I had Whitney breathing down my neck telling me to get ready. Luckily, I got ready and we headed off to In-N-Out.
Once Whitney and I got to In-N-Out we met up with Becky, Kenzy, and Emily. Brayden texted me and said that he had to go pick up Freeman really quick because his scooter broke down (which happens quite frequently, so I believed him). I asked him if he wanted me to order for them because we were already in line and he said no because it will get cold. I was so confused why he wouldn't just let me order for him but I thought maybe he really wanted his food fresh...
So we placed our order and sat down. All of a sudden a worker came and brought me my food, which is really odd for In-N-Out, they usually just call your number out and you go pick it up. I was so confused, but the girl just told me she remembered me when she was taking my order and just brought it to me. So I thought maybe she is just going above and beyond your In-N-Out serving duties. So without questioning it too hard, I dug into the food. After finishing my meal, I went to go refill my drink and as I was walking back I could tell everyone at the table was talking about me. When I sat back down there was an envelope with my name on it. My roommates and my sister were all mad that I didn't see that it was sitting in the tray the whole time, but who would give me a red envelope in the red tray?? And I was too focused on food. Well anyway...the scavenger hunt began:
- In-N-Out
- The Chocolate
- Dollar Theatre
- The Y Trail
- Payson Temple
- Lookout point over Utah Lake
All of these places had special meanings to us and each clue had a cute little poem written along with it.
When I finally got to the lookout point, Brayden was standing with a bouquet of roses with lights everywhere, and a table with Dr, Pepper and coconut syrup. It was perfect. When I finally got to him, he handed me a final letter(which I couldn't read yet) and said some sweet things and then got down one knee and asked me to marry him!! Of course I said yes. That was the easiest question I have ever answered.
It was all perfect. The proposal, the ring, the night, and the man.
Also, later that week we went home to California for the Taylor Swift concert with my whole family. Taylor Swift knows how to put on a show. Hands down the best concert I have ever been too. Going home to see my family that week was the perfect ending to the best week ever!
